Killarney is the rural north edge of Oakland's orbit, unincorporated county land running up toward the southern shore of Lake Apopka.
Properties are wide, the oaks are old, and the buildings are more varied than a subdivision allows. A house may share its lot with a workshop, a metal shed or a detached garage, and those outbuildings often carry a wall heater, a ductless head or a resistance unit fed from a subpanel. When one of them quits, the fault is as likely to sit in the circuit feeding it as in the equipment itself, so the panel gets opened alongside the unit.
Approach drives run long and house numbers sit well back from the pavement. That shapes scheduling more than anything else: the address and a description of where the equipment actually sits are confirmed before a truck heads out, because hunting for a rear workshop in the dark costs more than the repair.
Closer to the water the wind carries real weight, and a heat pump on an exposed pad takes weather a sheltered unit never sees. Ice that forms and then refuses to clear points at the reversing valve or the defrost control rather than the wall thermostat, and swapping a thermostat on an iced coil solves nothing. Insect load and dust on these blocks also keep coils dirtier between visits than most owners expect.
